DR. SCOTT ENNIS ATTENDS THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF HAIR RESTORATION SURGERY 17TH ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING IN AMSTERDAM

World's Leading Hair Restoration Physicians Gather to Present Latest Research, Scientific Advances in Diagnosing and Treating Hair Loss

Destin, FL – August 12, 2009 (For Immediate Release) - Dr. L Scott Ennis of Destin Plastic Surgery joined more than 500 physicians and surgical assistants from around the world dedicated to advancing the art and science of hair restoration at this premier educational event, July 22-26, 2009, at the RAI Congress Centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

From new research and approaches to hair loss in women to how hair restoration surgeons continue to refine hair transplants and are working towards virtually invisible donor areas, the latest findings and technological breakthroughs in hair restoration were presented by the world's foremost hair restoration experts at the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery's (ISHRS) 17th Annual Scientific Meeting.

"Destin Plastic Surgery has long been known as a comprehensive anti-aging clinic, providing both surgical and non-surgical procedures. We are now expanding our surgical services into hair transplantation and will soon be adding bioidentical hormone replacement into our anti-aging clinic," said Dr. Ennis, Destin Plastic Surgery.

A sampling of topics presented at the ISHRS Annual Meeting included:

  • What the experts are saying about platelet rich plasma (PRP) – is it hype or a potentially groundbreaking way to grow hair?
  • Ongoing studies involving pharmacologic agents being tested for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia, including a phase III clinical trial examining the effect of dutasteride on male-pattern hair loss.
  • In vitro and in vivo research testing the viability of growth factors and hair cloning as future resources for new hair growth.
  • The art and science of designing natural-looking hairlines, eyebrows, temporal points and cosmetically optimized donor sites are enhancing patient satisfaction.

While lately most people are skeptical about their return on investment from stocks, some seem to be more inclined to invest in their locks. According to a new online survey conducted by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), 59.8 percent of people who were asked whether they would rather have more hair, more money or more friends chose more hair. By comparison, only 26.2 percent of respondents chose more money and 13.9 percent said they would rather have more friends. Of the 1,407 people polled, slightly more women (64.2 percent) than men (59.1 percent) indicated they wanted more hair than more money or more friends.

Destin Plastic Surgery recognized this trend and has expanded Hair Restoration Surgery into the practice.

"Over the years Destin Plastic Surgery has been recognized as an international leader in plastic surgery and it is nice to be able to bring to Hair Restoration Surgery to the area. There is no other practice in the region offering this service," said Dr. Ennis.
