Vein Treatments
We are pleased to offer vein treatment for residents of Destin, Pensacola, and beyond by Dr. Richard Grisoli of the Destin Vein Center. Dr. Grisoli treats a variety of conditions, from very small spider veins to large, protruding varicose veins. Patients of the Destin Vein Center can feel confident knowing that in addition to his existing credentials, Dr. Grisoli is board-certified in phlebology, a relatively new specialty related to the treatment of vein conditions. Dr. Grisoli is one of a select few physicians to have earned this certification.
Call the Destin Vein Center at (850) 654-5222 or call toll-free at 1-800-VARICOSE to schedule a free, 15-minute consultation with Dr. Grisoli. You’ll be asked for a convenient time when his assistant can call you. Medicare and insurance are accepted where applicable.
About Dr. Grisoli
The American Board of Phlebology offers certification in phlebology, the medical specialty that deals specifically with venous disease. Certification demonstrates that the physician has met rigorous standards of education and experience in this field.
Dr. Grisoli was the first physician in the 4 western counties of Florida (Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton) to receive certification from this organization. He is currently the only physician in the United States to be board-certified in anesthesiology, critical care medicine, and phlebology. His extensive training means that even if you have serious medical problems, he can safely treat your vein condition and effectively keep you free of pain during your procedure.
Vein Treatment Options
Endovenous Laser Treatment
This minimally invasive procedure is performed in the office. Using local anesthesia, Dr. Grisoli inserts a very small fiber with a laser on its end into the vein. The fiber delivers pulses of laser energy, causing the walls of the vein to collapse and seal shut. Over time, the vein disappears as the body re-absorbs it.
This is an outpatient procedure that allows patients to return to work and other similar activities the next day.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy
This surgical option for removing varicose veins requires only local anesthesia. Dr. Grisoli uses extremely small incisions to extract the vein. This approach is highly effective and leaves behind scars that are small enough to go mostly unnoticed.
In the case of surgical vein removal, the patient will need to wear a bandage and/or compression stocking for a short period of time.
Sclerotherapy, With Or Without Ultrasound
Sclerotherapy is a common treatment for both spider and varicose veins that uses injections of a special liquid sclerosing agent. The injections inflame the walls of the vein, which causes the vein to collapse and eventually disappear as the body reroutes blood flow.
Depending on the type of vein being treated, sclerotherapy may or may not use ultrasound guidance. The use of ultrasound allows Dr. Grisoli to find and work with veins below the surface of the skin that are not visible to the naked eye.
With sclerotherapy, there is no downtime. Your treatment may be one or multiple sessions, with one or multiple injections per session, depending on the extent of the veins to be addressed.
